Swahili Fashion Week took off by hosting a market at the Italian Embassy Residence in Dar Es Salaam, followed by days of creativity sent down the runway, which offered the designers involved exposure for the next fashion season.
The collections that were showcased were aimed at Spring-Summer 2016, composed mainly of casualchic looks with the exception of a few evening outfits. Nevertheless, colour reigned in every collection. In my opinion, this year the designer that earned the spotlight was Lucky Creations who made use of chiffon and played with warm tones so well, giving us the collection of the summer.
Still sticking to summer and the casual theme, Nur showcased a casual sporty collection featuring colourful sheer pieces. Bijoux Trendy brought prints and beads in fun designs featuring long skirts and shift dresses. These were the stand out collections.
