ru·by

/ˈro͞obē/

Noun

A precious stone consisting of corundum in various shades of red.

An intense purplish-red color.

Ruby derives its name from ruber, Latin for red. The ruby is considered one of the four precious stones, alongside the sapphire, the emerald, and the diamond. Apparently the price of a ruby is determined by the colour. The brighter it is, the more valuable. Of course there are many variations or the colour Ruby  and of the colour red. Our ruby is a deep red and she is highlighted with hints of olive. Yummy!
