Over the past few years the African art and design scene has been gaining a bigger audience and capturing the interest of the western fashion and art lovers. Thanks to this growing momentum the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery will be hosting the biggest ever exhibit focused on African Fashion.
The Fashion Cities Africa exhibition aims to explore the practices of dress, fashion & styling and to celebrate the fashion scene in Casablanca, Lagos, Nairobi and Johannesburg. It will feature historic African textiles that are part of the collections, recent fashion from African fashion designers and bloggers. The community will be invited to engage with music, workshops, performances, dance, talks and debates.
